Trastuzumab-DM1
About Trastuzumab-DM1
Trastuzumab-DM1 (T-DM1) is an experimental, antibody-drug conjugate that links Herceptin to the cytotoxic, or cell killing agent, DM1. The trastuzumab-DM1 clinical program is concentrated on treatment of Herceptin-experienced metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients.
How Trastuzumab-DM1 Works
T-DM1 is an antibody-drug conjugate that links Herceptin to the cell killing agent, DM1. This approach is designed to increase the already significant tumor fighting ability of Herceptin by coupling it with an additional cell killing agent that is efficiently and simultaneously delivered to the targeted cancer cells by the antibody.
Clinical Trials
Phase 3 trials are underway for second-line treatment of HER2-positive MBC. Phase 2 trials are underway for first-line and third-line treatment of HER2-positive MBC.
